Show & Episode:
Chuck – Chuck Versus the Suburbs (S02E13)
Context:
Buy More employees Morgan, Jeff, and Lester help their boss Big Mike fill out a profile on dating site CupidAintStupid.com after his wife files for divorce. Big Mike is initially reluctant, but with a little persuasion and a lot of embellishment they eventually get him registered and matched to another person online – to the regret of one of his cohorts.
URL and Mockup Review:
WHOIS shows that the domain was registered by Warner Bros. Entertainment a little over 4 months before it aired, and unfortunately does not point to a real version online.
In the episode, the mockup for the displayed profile page is simplified for the short time you see it on-screen, but it does contain most of the elements you would expect from a dating site such as a Login bar, About me, Contact Info, Description, and space for a photo (not used.) The ‘Cupid’s Cuties in your area’ in the lower right corner is an additional small touch that sells the site.
‘Personalized’ parts of the site that reflect the script are the initial profile name (Lando Calrissian) and the My Details section where Big Mike’s greatly exaggerated biography is listed.
The footer for the site looks standard, if I have one complaint it’s that I would have taken some of the footer links like Dating Profiles or new ones and created a top or side navigation bar to flesh out the idea of a larger site.
